Wise and Foolish Builders

Luke 6:46-49 ……. "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."
These scriptures talk about doing the word of God. Wise men hear what Jesus says and do it; foolish men hear and do not do what He says.
Those who build their life on hearing and doing what Jesus says are wise builders; those who do not apply the word of God in their life are like builders who build on sand; they build on ground without foundations, they are foolish builders. Therefore, what they build will be destroyed when opposition and challenges come. However, those who build their life as an outworking of what Jesus speaks to them, a Christ-like lifestyle, will stand and be unshaken no matter what comes their way.
A Christ-like lifestyle is one that is built upon three main principals …….
1. Faith that comes from hearing God
2. Obedience to do what we hear God say
3. Sacrifice means being obedient no matter what the cost
We must ask ourselves, “Am I building on rock or am I building on sand? Am I being wise or foolish? Am I living a Christ-like lifestyle?”
Lord Jesus, help us to hear and do your word at any cost. Amen

The Light of the World Video

The Light of the World

John
8:12 …….. When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
When we walk in darkness it is easy to lose our direction. Not only that, we can stumble and fall over things that we cannot see. However, when Jesus Christ comes into our lives He dispels the darkness and enables us to see clearly and avoid pitfalls.
Jesus not only illuminates our life from the outside; showing us the path prepared in advance for us to walk in, but He also brings His light of revelation to the inside of our lives. He lights up the darkest corners where secrets are hidden; where shame, hurt, pain and sin are cloaked in darkness.
Our wonderful Saviour brings every issue into the light and He deals with it in love. With great grace and fathomless compassion He shows us that He took our shame and our pain upon Himself at the cross and removed it all, once and for all.
Mighty Jesus, the Light of the World has brought us into his marvellous light and now we walk in the light, not darkness, for ever.
Thank you Jesus, for being the light of our life. Amen

Whiter than Snow Video

Whiter than Snow

Psalm 51:7 ……. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

When we look out over a winter landscape that has been blanketed with pristine white snow, we can sometimes think that the untouched covering is hiding the ugly mess that lies beneath it. The uniform whiteness brings a sublime harmony that blots out things we do not want to see.
A fresh fall of snow brings a surreal beauty that makes the world look like a better place; albeit short-lived and transitory. However, all is not what it seems, this momentary bliss is not as clean and pure as it looks…… each snowflake forms itself around a tiny molecule of carbon; at its heart lies a nucleus of dirt – a dark blemish or stain.
David, the psalmist, says that when the Lord cleanses us we will be ‘whiter than snow’. When the blood of Jesus washes us clean, all our sin is removed; there is no dark core that is hiding in the recesses of our heart. Even when we sin again, the Lord says if we confess our sin He will purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
Jesus took all our sin upon Himself on the cross at Calvary. He did not leave any behind. In Christ there is no darkness of sin around which our new lives are formed. The slate has been wiped clean. He has made us whiter than snow.
Thank you Jesus, you have cleansed us of all unrighteousness. Amen
